Div Com stresses authorities for immediate reinstallation of VLPT at Sonamarg

In connection with re-installation of Very Low Power Transmitter (VLPT) at Sonamarg which was damaged due to avalanche in the year 2011, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon convened a high level meeting of officers of engineering wing of Doordarshan Kendra here today and threadbare discussions were held on various issues on the subject. The meeting was also attended by the officers of Sub Area Sonmarg. The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the said transmitter was installed during the year 2000.In the meeting the Divisional Commissioner directed the officers of Engineerng wing of Doordarshan Kendra authorities to take up t he matter with the concerned authorities for re-installation of VLPT at Sonmarg before September 2015 so that the population of Sonmarg could be covered under the Doordarshan Kendra programmes. Dr. Samoon also directed the authorities to take immediate steps for re-installation of VLPT at Sonmarg so that the population of Nilgrat and other villages would be facilitated by the programmes of Doordarshan Kendra.
