Mir inspects veg farms in Samba district

Says SRI, RKVY, NFSM schemes proved successful

Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that the schemes,programmes like System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), National Food Security Mission (NFSM) introduced by the Agriculture Department and adopted by the farmers practically in their fields has proved  very successful to increase the agricultural produce.This was stated by the Minister during his day long visit of the vegetable farms at Sarore, Dagchanni, Chamliyal and Samba today.The Minister said that due to the strenuous efforts of the Agriculture Department, the farmers have adopted latest technologies in their fields and adhered to timely expertize from the agri-experts due to which the quantity of crops and earning of farmers has doubled.Mir said after adhering to the timely instructions and suitable guidance from the officers and experts of the Agriculture department and inpidual farmers have earned Rs. 3 lakh out of per acre land at Sarore during season. 

Stressing upon the farming community to adopt the latest technologies provided to them under SRI, RKVY and NFSM, which are farmer friendly schemes launched by the Government and earn more and more in shortest time.At Sarore, the Minister visited vegetable fields spread over on 8 acre land on which hybrid brinjal, cauliflower and bitter gourd has been cultivated. The department has provided Rs. 31332 as subsidy to the framer for raising bower system in the field.The Minister inspected Plum concrete Chak Dam at Village Dagchanni, Chamliyal being constructed under National Food Security Mission at a cost of Rs. 3.36 lakh. He was briefed that 6 more Chak Dams will be constructed in the area, so that timely irrigation facilities will be ensured to the farmers.The Minister interacted with a group of progressive farmers at Samba and received feedback from them. “My mission is to reach personally at the tail and to see whether the schemes launched by the Government has reached to the farmers or not” Mr. Mir said. However, he said it is highly appreciable that the initiatives taken by the Government have god impact on ground.

The Minister was informed that the department has stocked 41345 quintals of wheat seed in Jammu province for the Rabi season 2013-14. He was also informed that in Samba district 4121 quintals of wheat, 403 quintals of oil seeds, 226 quintals pulses, 613 quintals of barseem and 3759 quintals of oats knuts has been stocked and kept available for the farmers as seed for the forthcoming season. He was also informed that 4422 quintals of fodder has also been stocked in Samba district.During the tour Director Agriculture Jammu Mr. Ajay Kumar Khujaria, Joint Director (inputs), Joint Director (Extension) Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba,Deputy Director (Trainings) Jammu and a team of senior officers accompanied the minister during the tour.
