Rs. 10 cr expended on re-construction of Pampore Joinery Mill: Ashraf Mir

Industrial units of Rajbagh to be shifted there

As a part of the policy to revive all sick industrial units in the State, the Joinery Mills Pampore  has been reconstructed on modern lines to ensure availability of latest equipment and machinery there on which Rs 10.50 crore have been expended for making the unit functional.This was stated by Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Mir while inspecting the Unit this morning. MLA Pampore Mir Zahoor Ahmad, MD JKI Junaid Iqbal, MD JK Minerals Ubaid Suhail besides senior officers of various departments accompanied the Minister.The Minister said that industrial units at Rajbagh will be shifted to Pampore and asked concerned authorities to process the issue for ensuring early shifting of the identified units.

The Minister said that government has already issued instructions to all the departments for making purchases from these units but need is to get these orders implemented effectively for over all benefit of these Units. He said the matter would be brought in to the notice of all the Ministers and asked MD SICOP to take necessary measures and re-circulate the government orders issued earlier.The Minister said that unemployment in the State is increasing day by day and the need is to motivate youth towards setting up of income generating units for which government is providing expert advice and financial help. He said establishing Joinery units is one of the best option for unemployed youth which on one hand can give them employment and on other hand will improve their economic status.

Briefing the Minister, MD SICOP said that Joinery Mills was setup in Pampore during British Government and accordingly was handed over to J&K State in 1963. The old Mill was damaged due to devastating floods of September-2014.Earlier, the Minister visited Wuyan and inspected the land identified for JK Minerals Limited and directed the concerned for landscaping of the area. He also instructed the concerned officers for formulating an action plan to establish the Minerals units there.
