Mega Camp for Distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances for Persons with Disabilites held at Mathura

Historical Mega camp for free of cost distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances to the Persons with Disabilities under the ADIP scheme of Government of India held at K D Dental College in the city today. The Camp organized by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur working under the aegis of Department Of Empowerment Of Person with Disability (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), Government of India in close association with District Administration, Mathura.  Chief Guest Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India inaugurated the event in the gracious of Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, MoS, Social Justice and Empowerment and Ms. Hema Malini, Member of Parliament, Mathura constituency and various other dignitaries followed by cultural program presented by Children with Special Need. A total of 1011 Persons with different kind of disabilities to be provided 1663 numbers of various types of aids and assistive devices manufactured and distributed by ALIMCO valuing over Rs. 78 Lakh 15 Thousand in the camp. These beneficiaries were pre identified during the assessment camps conducted at different blocks of district which includes Mathura, Mant, Baldev, Chhata and Goverdhan. 

Addressing the gathering at a mega distribution camp Shri Gehlot said that persons with disabilities are highly talented and are integral part of human resource. The disabled are highly talented and some of them are working as Advocates and Charted Accountant. He applauded the of blind cricket team of India, which won the World Cup for disabled in cricket, which was recently held. Disabled sports persons have secured gold and silver medals for India, in the recently concluded sports events abroad. National Viklang Sports center to encourage the sporting talent of disabled are being established, he added. 

Shri Krishna Pal Gurjar, MoS for Social Justice & Empowerment said that the union government has taken several initiatives for the welfare of differently abled persons and is now providing modern contemporary Aids and Assistive devices for different kind of disability. Smt. Hema Malini, Member of Parliament, Mathura applauded the work done by the ministry for empowering the PwDs and also expressed her gratitude for the camp conducted in her constituency. 

Lov Verma, Secretary, Department Of Empowerment Of Person with Disability (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment informed about the various welfare scheme and projects undertaken by the ministry for the welfare of differently abled across the nation. Shri Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Joint Secretary, Department Of Empowerment of Person with Disability (DEPwD) welcomed one and all and said the camp is historical in term of turnout of beneficiaries in the district. Shri D R Sarin, CMD, ALIMCO informed the gathering about new initiative taken by the corporation for developing and manufacturing high end assistive aids and appliances. Senior officers from district administration were also present during the function. Modern contemporary Aids and Assistive devices for different kind of disability were distributed in the camp which includes 10 Motorized Tricycle attached with a Utility Box. These tricycle were provided to the identified beneficiaries affected from 80% or more than 80% of Lower limb disability. Beneficiary with Socio-economically poor background can make use of this Utility Box for delivery service of small items like milk packets, newspapers or other similar items hence make them self reliance. 

Pre-identified beneficiaries were provided with various assistive aids and devices which includes 780-Tricycles, 88-Wheelchairs, 593-Crutches (Axilla and L-bow), 99-Walking Stick, 01-Rollators for Orthopedically Impaired persons 03-Braille Cane(folding), 17-Behind The Ear – Digital Hearing Aid machines and 02- MSIED Kit (Multi Sensory Inclusive Educational Kit) for Children with Special Needs, ADL Kit for person affected from leprosy. Also in the camp 70 numbers of Prosthetics and Orthotics appliances were distributed.
