Education makes people responsible, accountable citizens: Peerzada

Says KP registered in Form-D can cast their vote

Highlighting the role of education, Minister for Haj, Auqaf and Floriculture Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said that it is  a tool which moulds the inpidual’s personality and prepare him mentally and socially to face the challenges in future life. This was stated by the Minister at an Annual Day function of  Rose Public High School at Bantalab, Jammu today. The Minister said that education is vital factor for an inpidual’s success in life. He said that education is the foundation of civilized society which makes the people of the nation responsible and accountable citizens and brings economic and social prosperity.The Minister urged upon the teaching community to impart quality education to enable the students to compete at national and international levels.  The students of the state are talented and the need is to channelize it in right director and prospective, he maintained. 

The Minister said that despite many odds, the Government has achieved a lot in increasing the literacy rate in the State, adding that the day is not far when the state will achieve cent per cent literacy. He said that the programmes launched in the education sector have also been proved fruitful in bridging the gap between male and female literacy rate. Referring to the issue of Kashmiri Pandit Migrants for use their franchise during the election, the Minister said that the persons who names have been registered in Form-D (Registration as a Migrant) have the right to cast their votes.  The Kashmiri Pandit Migrants belongs to Reserved Backward Areas would also get benefit of RBA category in employment, he maintained.Later, the Minister gave away prizes among the students who have performed well in curricular and co-curricular activities. Responding to the demand of the locals, the Minister said that a project is underway for beautification and creation of recreational facilities for the people of Bontalab. He asked concerned officers to speed up work going on in the area to ensure early completion of the project. The students presented colourful cultural programme which was highly applauded by the audiences. Among others, former Minister Mr. Mula Ram, Sant Shri Vijay Ji Maharaj, prominent citizens, besides students and their parents present on the occasion.
