Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal President Shiromani Akali Dal today said that the Congress party despite repeated false promises was running away from continuing free power to farmers and Atta Dal scheme to 20 lakh poor families of the state.

Describing Congress manifesto a visionless negative document in a statement issued here, Mr. Badal said that without laying the future road map for the Punjab, the manifesto had focussed on SAD whose policies it was copying in the manifesto. He said that Congress had been forced to the lip service of promising to continue the policies of SAD but their leader Amarinder Singh had already made clear his intention in the rallies that he would stop all the project and schemes initiated by SAD. He said that people now have already seen the double face of Capt. Amarinder Singh and had no faith in the document called ‘manifesto’ released by the Congress party yesterday.

Mr. Badal said that in the manifesto Congress party has deliberately avoided the usage of word ‘free power’ so that it could conveniently stop free power if it, at all, gets back to the power. He said that Congress party manifesto has made a hue cry on poor financial situation of the Punjab finances so that it could get an alibi to discontinue free power, Atta Dal scheme and other welfare schemes for poor strata of the society.

He said that Capt. Amarinder Singh was never sincere to the cause of farmers and poor. He said that he deliberately did not start free power for 36 long months despite promise made by Congress party in their earlier manifesto. He said that now Congress party was even running away from promising free power what to call of continuing it.

Cautioning the people not to fall in the trap of Congress propaganda Mr. Badal said that only S. Parkash Singh Badal has the ability and will power to continue these schemes as he understand the problems of farmers and poor people. He said that people living in palaces cannot have feel of problem of common masses and they don’t have a will power to solve those.

Mr. Badal said that Congress party would fall under the weight its own rebels who are giving a tough fight to Congress party candidates on more than 51 seats.  Mr. Badal said that old Congress workers were horrified at the allegations of crores being offered to buy the ticket of Congress party. He said that he was of the view that political parties should also come under the ambit of lokpal. Corruption by the party high command at the time of distribution of tickets was the source of corruption by congress ministers.

Mocking at Congress promise to strengthen the institute of lokpal, the Congress party which scuttled the lokpal bill in Parliament would never want a lokpal to keep a check on their corrupt activities. He said that when Congress run Union government could not bring, how Capt would do that in Punjab.  He said that the reluctance of Union government for strong lokpal was evident from the fact that Congress led union government was not approving the lokpal bill of Uttrakhand government drafted on the pattern of Janlokpal Bill. He concluded the Congress manifesto as a document that should be confined to dustbin.
