Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Tuesday said Kashmiris striving for freedom desire for real peace and prosperity of the world.“Who will be more familiar with the taste of freedom and the bitterness of slavery than Kashmiri nation that has been sacrificing and striving for freedom for last six decades?” he said in a statement to KNS with regard to anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz and August 15.While remembering Sheikh Aziz, Malik said, “He was a man of will and dedication who till his last breath strived for the cause of Kashmir.”Paying rich tributes to Sheikh Aziz, he termed him a thorough gentleman, freedom lover and selfless leader.

“The martyrdom of Shaheed Aziz sahib strengthened the peaceful people’s revolution in Kashmir and this nation will always remember him and his sacrifices. In 1947 the Indian sub-continent got freedom from the British rule. India also got freedom on 15 August 1947. India gained this freedom after enormous sacrifices and struggle. For achieving freedom Indian nation sacrificed its thousands of men, women and tolerated torture and oppression at the hands of British. The sacrifices given by this nation for freedom should have been enough motivation for the nation and its leadership to recognize and honor the freedom of other nations. India should have been a torch bearer of freedom and champion of human rights but alas! It is totally opposite. Only few days after getting its freedom Indian nation over powered a tiny nation called Kashmir and with its military might snatch its freedom and subjugated its people,” the JKLF chairman said.

“India subjected Kashmiri to same oppression, tyranny and inhuman treatment that was being done to her by British And that too without any fear or shame. When Kashmiri’s resisted this forced domination India went to United Nations and promised before the whole world that Kashmiri’s will be provided a chance to choose their fate. Even India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru promised the same in India parliament and Lal Chowk Srinagar while addressing people. But when Kashmiris tried to remind India of its promises they were and are being subjected to worst kind of oppression. From The hanging of Shaheed Baba I Qoum Mohammad Maqbool Butt in Tihar Jail on 1984 to the martyrdom of Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz in 2008 and also the martyrdom of more than one lakh people bear a testimony to this historical fact,” he added.Malik said that Kashmiri’s are freedom loving and they want every nation to taste and enjoy freedom “but a nation that has snatched our freedom, which has subjugated us and oppressed our tiny poor nation, should realize that it has no right to do so.”

“”For this very purpose Kashmiri’s living across the globe remember 15August as a black day .Kashmiris  through their peaceful protest, strike and other programs on this day try to remind India and the world that Kashmir still remains bleeding and that resolving this issue is in the favor of lasting peace, brotherhood, development and stability of the World. The day will be observed as a black day this year too and Kashmiri’s by observing complete shutdown on the day will reiterate their commitment towards the freedom struggle,” he added.
