Choudhary Lal Singh inaugurates 2-day Army medical camp

‘Land being identified for 5 new medical colleges’

Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today inaugurated two-day Army Medical Camp at Garkhal in Akhnoor. The medical camp is being organized by 25 Punjab Regiment in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services Jammu.Brig B S Bisht, Commander, 19 Infantry Brigade, Domana, Col Kumar Anand, Commanding Officer, 25th Battalion of the Punjab Regiment, Pargwal, Capt. Varun Kumar, RMO, 25 Punjab Regiment Pargwal, Col C L Sharma, 326 Field Hospital Domana, Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Mission Director National Health Mission Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Robinder Khajuria besides other senior officers of Army, medicos and paramedics were present on the occasion.About 1000 people of the Garkhal and its adjoining areas were treated on the first day of the medical camp under Ortho, ENT, Gynae, Eye, Medicine and Dental treatments.

While interacting with the people, Choudhary Lal Singh said that aim to organize the medical camp at Garkhal is to provide medicare facilities to the people of the area at their doorstep. He said Government is committed to provide best healthcare facilities to the people across the State. He said instructions have been issued to the health authorities to arrange medical camps in far-off and rural areas of the State particularly in border pockets.The Minister directed the Mission Director NHM to depute a team of doctors at the camp for proper medical check of the children on August 12, 2015 at the premises of Army Medical Camp. He said that up to 18 years age group of the children would be check up under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Kaaryakram (RBSK) scheme in the Army Medical Camp at Garkhal in Akhnor. He asked the doctors and paramedics to provide best treatment to the patients in the medical camp and asked the doctors to render the public service with highest degree of responsibility and commitment towards the society.

Later, various deputations of the Garkhal village met the Minister and projected development related issues included upgradation of link road, uninterrupted and improved power supply and renovation of village lanes and drains.The Minister gave on-spot-directions to accompanied concerned department officers to redress grievances and development needs of people on priority basis.Choudhary Lal Singh also exhorted upon the officers to complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated time, ensuring quality as per norms. He said that the promises made by coalition Government are being fulfilled one after another. “We have made new strides and laid edifice of peaceful and economically sound Jammu and Kashmir”, he said adding that though everything has not been achieved in full yet the march on road to progress is firm and the intention of Government to take the State to the new heights of prosperity and stability is sincere and clear. For providing Government Medical College facilities at Kashmir and Jammu, Choudhary Lal Singh informed that Government is planning to establish five new medical colleges in Kashmir and Jammu. He informed that three Government Medical Colleges will be set up at Rajouri, Doda and Kathua besides two in Kashmir valley. He said for this purpose, Medical authorities have been instructed to indentify the suitable land under the project so that the construction work of the hospitals could be started at the earliest.
