Asiya Naqash reviews functioning of Health and Medical Education Department

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiya Naqash said the Government is making earnest efforts to improve healthcare facilities across the State so as to provide hassle free medical care to the general public.The Minister stated this during a meeting convened to review functioning of Health and Medical Education Department, at the Civil Secretariat here today.Director Health Services, Kashmir, Director Family Welfare, Principal, Government Medical Collage Srinagar, Joint Director Planning and officers of the health department were present in the meeting.During the meeting threadbare discussion was held regarding various measures being taken to provide best possible medical care to the people of the State. The Minister was informed about the status of stock of medicines, equipment, etc.  She also sought details regarding provision of free and paid services to patients including medicines, investigations and procedures. 

The Minister said various health care institutions that are deficient of medical staff and paramedical staff will be addressed at the earliest. During the meeting extensive discussions were held with regard to provision of latest diagnostic facilities like CT Scan, etc. will be provided to various health facilities including hospitals and health centers.The Minister, while referring to healthcare as an essential service as asked the concerned officers to put in their best and help improve service effectiveness. She added that the Government is giving focused attention for the development of health sector, so that the patients do not face any difficulty. The Minister said that the Government aims to provide better healthcare to people of all age groups for which various schemes have been implemented.The Minister asked the concerned that various steps need to be taken to upgrade Primary Health Centres in an endeavor to provide better and improved healthcare to the people living in rural and far off places.
