ITI Pattan takes lead in introducing biometric attendance

Terming skill development among youth as foremost priority of the Government, Minister for Technical Education, Information Technology and Youth Services and Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari has stressed the need for upgradation and modernization of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the State.

The Minister was addressing a function after inaugurating workshop-cum-computer Lab at ITI Pattan today which has been completed at a cost of Rs 67 lakh.The Minister announced release of Rs 10 lakh for face-lifting of the Institute and assured that more financial assistance will be provided to it for development of infrastructure. He said ITI Pattan will be developed as a model ITI in the North Kashmir.The Minister also inaugurated Bio-Metric Attendance System at ITI Pattan to keep pace with the latest technology. ITI Pattan has become the 1st such institute in J&K to have introduced bio-metric attendance system.

 Director Technical Education on this occasion informed the Minister that most of the ITIs are being modernized with the latest machinery and equipment and also trades are being diversified with the latest trends catering to the modern/market driven courses. He said those trainees who have completed special training under SDI/SDY are being provided suitable placements.Later, the Minster also visited Trauma Hospital Pattan, and reviewed the pace of work on the project. He directed the executing agency to ensure completion of the project on war-foot basis. He said the hospital would be developed as super-specialty healthcare facility on the highway which will cater to the needs of whole North Kashmir.The Minister also visited Buddibugh, Gund Khawaja Qasim and adjacent areas and reviewed the developmental scenario there. He also took stock of the macadamization work being carried out in the area.Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Technical Education, Showkat Ahmad Zargar, SDM Pattan, SE R&B, SE PDD, CMO Baramulla, and Deputy Director Technical Education were also present on this occasion.
