Team of Ministers visit Anantnag, Bijbehara, Shangus, Pahalgam; Review development works

Second block of 300 bed hospital, bypass road to be completed this year

Minister for R&B, Gardens & Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari accompanied by Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari and former legislators, Peerzada Mansoor and Rafi Ahmad Mir visited Anantnag, Bijbehara, Shangus and Pahalgam constituencies to take stock of the development needs of the people besides reviewing the ongoing road projects in the area.Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir, SK Razdan, Managing Director, JKPCC, PL Bhushan, Director Floriculture, Sunil Mishri besides senior officers from Rural Development, PHE, Revenue and Health departments accompanied the Ministers.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the team visited Anantnag and inspected the ongoing work of 300 bed hospital building and the bypass road.The team while inspecting under-construction 300 bed hospital building was informed that out of three blocks of the building one block stands handed over to the health department while second block will be completed by this year. MD, JKPCC informed the team that Rs 30 crore have been utilized on the project out of estimated project cost of Rs 59 crore.While inspecting the bypass road, the team was informed that plan was conceived to ease traffic pressure in the town. Besides removing garbage from Novkhul, the team instructed Deputy Commissioner to get all the encroachments removed at the banks of Navkhul and the structures that have come up near Government Library. He was also asked to ensure that no vehicle is parked on bypass road and immediate action is taken against trespassers.

The Chief Engineer while briefing the team about the progress of bypass road informed that the project has been conceived to ease traffic congestion in the town. He said Rs 12.50 crore are being spent on this 2.30 km road and is expected to be made motorable by the end of this year. He was asked to construct a retaining wall for the sports stadium there. Talking to the people, the team assured construction of foot-bridge for connecting Bangdara and other villages with the town.The team also visited Sherbagh and asked Director Floriculture to take necessary steps for beautification of the park. He was asked to install adequate dustbins in the park for collecting garbage. Seeking cooperation from the public and the locals, the Ministers asked them to help Government in maintenance of this park.  

In Bijbehara the team visited Housing Colony and directed Director Floriculture to take necessary steps for beautifying and opening of Public Park there. He was asked to ensure that park is thrown open for public by ending October this year. The Deputy Commissioner was asked to make alternate arrangements for dumping the garbage of the colony.The team while visiting Shangus constituency met the people and listened to their demands. R&B Minister said that all the roads of the constituency would be macadamized.  He said the development projects framed for the constituency will transform its outlook. The Minister directed R&B department to carry out renovation of Dak Bungalow Achabal. He asked Director Floriculture for plantation of flower plants in the park.On way to Pahalgam, the team also inspected Akad Park, Aishmuqam Park, Abshar Park and Poshwan Park and took stock of the measures being taken by Floriculture Department for their expansion and beautification. 

The team was informed that 32 kanals of land are being acquired for expansion of Akad Park while Rs 50 lakh have been received for development of Aabshar Park. The team also inspected macadamization of Auro road and construction of footpath at Laribal. The Minister appreciated the Chief Engineer and his team for carrying out macadamization work in district. Syed Altaf Bukhari on the occasion assured that all the basic facilities in the Pahalgam constituency would be improved as chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is personally keen to see this place developed on modern lines.Earlier, in the morning, the team and the Minister of State for Power, Housing and Urban Development Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone and engineers of UEED and I&FC departments inspected ongoing widening work of Panthachowk and asked line departments to coordinate and ensure that road is thrown open for traffic early.
