Ramzan for timely stocking of food grains in hilly areas

Asks officers to streamline, speed up dumping process

Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan has called upon the officers of Food Corporation of India (FCI), CA&PD and STRC to coordinate and ensure that the reaming food grains are dispatched to the areas where these have not been stocked so far as per schedule. He asked FCI authorities to streamline and speed up the supply process in the State particularly in Doda and Kishtwar districts so that remaining food grains meant for Khilani, Kishtwar, Tangdar and Karnah are stocked by next week. The Minister was reviewing the stock position of essential commodities of Jammu pision here at an officers meeting today.

The Minister said that with the onset of winter the stocking of essential commodities should have been completed as some parts of the State remains cut off due to snow. He instructed officers to speed up the dumping process particularly in hilly areas of Doda, Kupwara and Kishtwar districts where certain parts remain cut off during winter months. He asked General Manager, FCI to redouble efforts and ensure the stocking in these areas well in time while the MD SRTC was asked to deploy adequate number of trucks for carrying food grains to these areas.The MD assured the meeting that adequate trucks would be deployed for transportation of food grains in the pision, particularly in the identified areas of Doda, Kishtawar and Kupwara districts. The meeting was told that dumping for Leh and Kargil stands already completed while efforts are on to dispatch grains to Tangdar and Karnah areas of Kupwara district and is expected to be completed by next week.
