Coming down heavily on the PDP-BJP coalition government for its “failure” to addresses the aspirations of youth, former minister and chairman Democratic Party (Nationalist) Ghulam Hassan Mir Sunday claimed the policies adopted by the government are pushing educated younger generation of Kashmir into militancy.“Only a year before, we could see our youth taking an active part in their career making, sports, education and economic development of the society. But today the same youth is disappointed and hopeless. With hope the youth came out and participated enthusiastically in elections so that they could see their and Kashmir’s future turning bright. But they feel cheated and their hopes dashed to dust, due to the wrong policies adopted by the government,” Mir said while addressing a rally at Agar, Magam.

“Today our youth are forced to turn back to militancy and the facts are before us,” he said, alleging that the situation created by the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led coalition government in the state has vitiated the peaceful atmosphere of the state.“Present dispensation’s promises with youth about employment has only hallow and the government is callously under inertia in their efforts to ameliorate the condition of youth. No effort is being made by the government on the front of employment generation. Instead an anti-youth job policy is being formulated. It was due the protest by opposition parties, that the future of youth could be saved which was bound to be affected because of the wrong job policy,” he claimed.

The DPN chairman said that efforts of his party would be ensure the future of youth shines like a star despite the “clouds of hopelessness created by the coalition government.”He said the previous government, of which he was a part, had started given incentives to the unemployed educated youth. “The present government instead of enhancing the incentive amount given to the youth have all together stopped it, which is a grave injustice,” Mir said.He also criticised government for failing the farmers and making hollow promises with them. The former Minister said the promises of waving off loan amount upto Rs 50,000 under the Kisan Credit Card were a hoax to hoodwink the farming community. “This government is expert in only showing dreams, but in practicality is utter failure,” he said.

Mir wondered that no flood affected people of Pattan area have not been compensated by the government despite passing of 11 month since floods hit Kashmir. “The cheques were distributed selectively by the present government among their workers and the common people have left in high and dry,” he said.Mir added that he received lot of complaints from people of the area that new ration cards are also distributed by the government among its workers and common people are left in lurch.
