Another encounter rages in Keran sector, two militants killed

Two militants were killed in a fresh encounter along Line of Control (LoC) in Jumgund area of Keran sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday.Official sources told GNS that army’s 21 KAMAW manning the fence at Kungi Nad- forest area in Jumgund challenged a group of infiltrators today at around 4:00 a.m. After being challenged, the militants opened heavy fire which resulted into an encounter.

Later, additional reinforcement of 15 RR and 3/3GR also rushed to the spot to help the troops deployed near the fence, he said.While confirming the incident, a senior defence ministry official told GNS that two militants have been gunned down.“Operation in the area is still in progress and so far two militant bodies have been recovered along with as many AK-47 rifles”, he said.
