Army organises medical, vet camp on Kupwara

A medical and veterinary camp was organized by Army at Kupwara under the aegis of Chinar Corps on Thursday.“The camp was organized in Chak Nutnussa village which witnessed large number of people coming from Nutnussa, Chak Nutnussa, Awatkul, Tarats and adjoining villages. Team of Army medical Doctors including lady doctor duly assisted by medical officers from Kupwara Health Department provided medical care to the local populace. Quality medical care, health checkups and free medicines were provided to approx 500 people and 90 animals at the doorsteps of the rural population. Number of people who required further diagnosis/ specialized treatments were also referred to hospitals for further treatment. A lecture was conducted during the camp by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion on ill effects of Drug abuse, Alcohol and Smoking with an aim to create awareness amongst locals especially the youth. Doctors also guided the Awaam on preventive methods to avoid lifestyle diseases,” a defence spokesman said in a statement.

“The medical and veterinary camp received an overwhelming response from the locals. Sarpanches, Teachers and local resident doctors of the area also came forward to assist the Army in successful conduct of the camp. This event was also utilized by locals to interact with their Army to discuss other Sadbhavna projects planned for the area. Success of such initiatives undertaken by Army located at different parts of Kashmir is an example of how Indian Army and Awaam are working together to improve the lives of common people and maintaining peace through mutual respect and support,” he added.
