DC reviews digitization work of Cable TV, functioning of DLMC for cable operators

In order to implement switchover of existing Cable TV Operator Network (Analog) to the Digital Addressable System (DAS) in district Kathua, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Jamwal convened a meeting here today. ASP Kathua Nisar Khan, ACR Kathua Atul Gupta, DPO, Tehsildar’s Kathua, Nagri Parole, Dinga Amb, Lohai Malhar, Ramkote, Basohli, Mahanpur Executive Officers (Municipalities), registered Private local Cable Operators (LCOs), District Information Officer Indu Jamwal and members of District Level Monitoring Committee attended the meeting.The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the cable operators to replace Analog Cable operation system by Digital Addressable System (DAS) systematically and impressed upon them to ensure switching process is completed before cut off date for areas under municipalities i.e. 31st December, 2015 and for rural areas 31st December’2016 as prescribed by Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

The DC also directed LCOs to educate people through scroll on their network about the mandatory switching and submit their subscribers data and plan of action to the concerned committee members. He called upon the members of committee comprising Tehsildar and EO Municipality to monthly review the progress of digitization and submit the monthly report in District Information Centre, Kathua on email id:- Katcabop@gmail.com or by  fax on 01922-234815.  

Later, the DC also held a meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) for Cable Operators members and took review of the functioning of the committee regarding monitoring of the content broadcast on cable network. He called for immediate reporting of any such content infringing the prescribed programme and advertisement code under Cable TV Network Regulation Act, 1995.
