My Village, My World campaign launched across Jammu region

To ensure focused, planned and sustainable rural development, conservation of water bodies and polythene free environment in the villages, "My village, My world" campaign was launched all across Jammu province today.At Samba, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today launched  the campaign from BDO office Bari Barhmana.On this occasion a mass pledge was taken to keep cleanliness and spread awareness about hygiene. An awareness van was flagged off by the Minister and a Green Walk awareness rally was organised in which school children, employees and people from different walks of life participated. A plantation drive was also launched by the Minister.A play was staged to spread awareness about benefits of avoiding plastic, afforestation and stopping open defecation.

The Minister highlighted harmful effects of deforestation and emphasised on benefits of organic farming, Tulsi plants and neem trees. He also stressed on sustainable development so that our future generations may not suffer. He appreciated efforts of Rural Development Department and appealed all to contribute to save planet earth.At Poonch, District Development Commissioner, Nisar Ahmed Wani launched “My Village, My World” campaign at village Jhulas.The campaign was simultaneously launched across the district in several villages including Sanai, Mandi, Loran, Sathra, Golad, Mankote and Dhargloon to focus on sustainable rural regeneration to preserve and revive village’s natural heritage besides informing the ruralites about importance of cleanliness and polythene free environs in villages.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC said environmental degradation is adversely affecting villages resulting in deteriorating quality of life.At Rajouri, District Development Commissioner, Deepti Uppal launched the campaign by planting various plants in the premises of middle school, Ganyal.Educating the gathering, the DDC said that under the initiative of My village, My world , the Rural development department is embarking on a mission envisaging creation of awareness about planned construction in rural areas, removal of polythene from every village Panchayat, clean and green village and protection of water bodies, rivers, streams, nallah and springs. She said that through this unique initiative, there will be a restriction on haphazard construction in the rural area.At Ramban, District Development Commissioner, Farooq Shah Bukhari   launched the campaign in Panchayat, Pernote B of Ramban.

On the occasion, the DDC informed the gathering that the objective of organizing Clean and Green Mission is to make the rural area pollution free to make the whole nation neat and clean. He also said that  the message of Clean and Green should be spread to villages and Panchayats.At Udhampur, the campaign was launched by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary at Krimchi Panchayat in CD Block Udhampur where plantation was carried out followed by awareness camp, pledge and rally taken out across the villages.The DDC elaborated the aims and objectives of the sanitation drives and appealed the public to vow for cleanliness and greening of their villages through active participation of departments. He called upon the public for discarding the use of polythene, maintaining hygiene, eliminating open defecation, keeping water resources clean and plantation in the villages for a holistic clean environment in the villages.
