Sakshar Bharat Mission reviewed at Kupwara

The District Development Commissioner, Kupwara who is also the chairman of District Lok Shiksha Samiti, Kupwara convened a meeting of officers of DIET, Education, Rural Development to review the progress achieved under the Sakshar Bharat Mission (SMB) here today.

The District Coordinator, SBM briefed the aim and objectives regarding the launching of the mission through PowerPoint presentation.

The District Development Commissioner Kupwara impressed upon the concerned to constitute the Samitis at Panchayat and Block levels for the implementation of the programmes as per the guidelines.The meeting was informed that as per the census 2011, the population of the district has been registered 875 lakh and survey report revealed that 223684 children have been registered under 0-14 years while as 6-14 years of age 132138 children have been registered in the district with the total enrolment at elementary level are 127738.It was further informed that Rs. 10.25 crore under centre share and Rs. 2.50 crore were released for the programme by the State Project Director SSA. The survey and selection of district and block co-ordinators, preraks at Gram Panchayat level has been completed, the meeting was informed besides 11 block level coordinators, 712 preraks have been engaged for the implementation of SBM at grass root level.It was also given out that 1953 drop outs were registered of which 1155 appeared in the learners examination besides 17000 new literates were registered during 2012 in which 10184 appeared in the examination at 54 centres in the district.
