2400 Sub Health Units for State under NRHM soon: Shabir

Government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people and every effort is being made to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in the State.This was stated by the Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan while chairing a review meeting of officers of Health department.While reviewing the functioning of major health institutions of the State it was informed that the health institutions of the Valley have treated 58,67,293 OPD patients, while as 3,14,220 IPD patients were treated upto the end of October 2013. The Minister was also informed that 1,26,67,293 lab investigations have been conducted besides 81,513 ECG and 1,34,684 UGC and 26,618 X-Rays during the same period.It was given out that 33,668 deliveries have also been conducted by the health institutions. Besides, 21,449 major and 1,15,294 minor operations were also conducted in the health institutions throughout the Valley and subsequently revenue of Rs. 6.19 crore was also realized.The Minister also reviewed the medicare facilities being provided to the patients under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). He said that central government has sanctioned 2,400 Sub Health Units under NRHM for the State.The meeting was attended by the Secretary Health department, Mr. Gazanfar Hussain, Mission Director NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Drug and Food Control J&K, all Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, all Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents of all Health Institutions.
