Badal Okays New Veterinary Science College At Rampura Phul

Impresses Upon To Strengthen Veterinary Education,Asks Gadvasu To Initiate New Short Term Courses

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave approval to establish a new College of Veterinary Science and a Veterinary hospital along with Livestock Farm Complex at Rampura Phul in Bathinda district over an area of 25 hectares through Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU).A decision to this effect was taken by Mr. Badal during a meeting with the senior officers of the Animal Husbandry Dairy development & Fisheries department. Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry Dairy development & Fisheries apprised the Chief Minister that this College and Hospital would be built over 5 acres of land besides other related facilities. He further informed that GADVASU would undertake the entire project.Emphasising the dire need to strengthen Veterinary education as well as generating more employment opportunities for the youth especially in rural sector, Mr. Badal asked the Vice Chancellor GADVASU to prepare a comprehensive plan to initiate new short term diploma courses for this new College, besides the regular degree course of B.V.Sc. & AH.Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Education Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Financial Commissioner Forest Mr. DS Bains, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry Dairy development & Fisheries Mr. G Vajralingam, Advisor to Animal Husbandry Dairy development & Fisheries Punjab Dr. Prem Kumar Uppal,    Special Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Ajoy Kumar Sharma, Director Animal Husbandry Dr. HS Sandha, Vice Chancellor GADVASU Dr. Vijay Kumar Taneja and Director Fisheries Mr. BK Sood
