Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani today appealed Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani to reconsider and revoke his poll boycott call and said that holding of elections in the State and resolving of Kashmir problem are two separate issues, because formation of Government is mandatory to run the affairs of the state and in resolving the grievances, of its populace particularly, which they face in their day to day life. He said that propagation of the poll boycott is directly affecting the prosperity of the masses.  Mr. Vakil said there is no logic in propagating election boycott in Kashmir, which only strengthens and encourages the corrupt people at the cost of honest and dedicated people, who can play an important role in development of the state.

Vakil was addressing a Public meeting at Haran Ganderbal. Mr. Vakil said that poll boycott campaign is unfortunate event in the history of this State because people who have the experience and intention of looting the state exchequer most of them manage to secure their seats. He said that Syed Ali Shah Geelani must revisit his decision and understand the prevailing scenario in the state and condition of the poor people in the state. Mr. Vakil said that every issue of whatever nature can be resolved through dialogue as world history is witness to the fact that violence has been replaced by apeaceful dialogue. He said congress party has always chosen the way of dialogue to resolve the conflicts and it has also adopted the same approach in this state.

While addressing the gathering Mr. Vakil stressed upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to concentrate on developmental issues rather on his political concerns. He said that this Government has got mandate for development and prosperity but it seems the Government is busy with politics rather than development works, which is moving at a slow pace. Mr. Vakil said that a lot is yet undone in the sectors which are directly related to common masses. He said that still winter is not at its peak but power scenario has got deteriorated earlier, roads are in dilapidated condition, drinking water scarcity has not been addressed, projects executions and their completions in not in sight on present day. He urged Omar Abdullah to try to achieve maximum in left over time to earn the interest and faith of the people.  Mr. Vakil reiterated that Poll alliance with any Party in J&K is the prerogative of the high command after considering the PCC views and said it is premature to draw any conclusion in this behalf in advance. He urged party workers to gear up for the Assembly and Parliament elections and work hard to ensure success of the congress party. He informed workers that by the support of masses we are capable to fight elections all alone and party’s developmental slogan will help it to emerge as a formidable single largest party. Besides others who addressed the gathering include Sr. Congress leader and Ex. MLC Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat, District President Ganderbal Ghulam Hassan Shah, Sr. Congress Leader Qaiser Ahmad Jin.
