Governor’s XI wins Charity T-20 Cricket Match

Governor’s XI won the T-20 Charity Cricket Match played between Governors XI and Chief Ministers XI at Bishop Cotton School here today by a huge margin of 123 runs. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while congratulating the winning team said it was a friendly match and Chief Minister’s XI also played well. He said that the concept of this tournament was started during his previous tenure but was discontinued thereafter.While lauding the efforts of the Himachal Pradesh Sports Cultural and Environment Association, Chief Minister said that this tournament should be made a regular affair for promoting goodwill and sportsmanship amongst legislators and senior officers of the State.

President Himachal Pradesh Sports Cultural and Environment Association, Shri Vikramaditya Singh said that the association was planning to organize this match of 1st December, but it was pre-poned to pay tributes to great cricketer, Shri Sachin Tendulkar, who bid farewell to international cricket only yesterday. He said that the amount Rs 4.51 lakh collected through this charity cricket match would be donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also thanked all the sponsors, BCS administration, spectators and others who have contributed to make this tournament a success.  

Chief Minister Sh Virbhadra Singh presented winner’s trophy to the Vice Captain of Governor’s XI Shri Tarun Sridhar and runners-up Trophy to Vice Captain of Chief Minister’s XI Shri Mukesh Agnihotri. and prizes to other winners on the occasion.Dr Amandeep Garg of Governor’s XI was declared as Man of the Match for his brilliant knock of 59 runs.Urban Development Minister Shri Sudhir Sharma of Chief Minister’s XI put some resistance and scored 51 runs.
