Hurriyat (G) holds protests against Memon’s hanging

Asks Govt to protect Jammu Muslims

On the appeal of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani, the people everywhere in Kashmir Valley today celebrated Solidarity day for the Muslims of Pirpanjal, Chinab Valley and Jammu regions and took out protest marches and processions against the unjust execution of Yakub Mamon in Nagpur Jail and cautioned the government that if they failed to protect the Muslims of these regions from the mischievous activities of the communal and fascist forces, it will have serious consequences and a strong reaction will come to fore in the Kashmir valley against this.According to a statement issued to KNS, the Hurriyat (G) leaders led different protest marches at different places and apprised the general public about situations in the Jammu division and in this respect a huge protest march led by senior Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmad Shah was took out from Saraibala in Srinagar to Amerakadal and Hari Sing High street, in which Hurriyat (G) leaders Khan Mohammad Sopori, Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Bilal Siddiqi, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Saleem Zargar, Imtiyaz Hyder, Rameez Raja, Omer Adil Dar, Javaid Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Arshid Aziz, Junaid Ahmad, Khalid-ul-Islam and Ishfaq Ahmad Khan also participated.

Another protest march led by Bashir Ahmad Qurashi was took out from Jamia Masjid Chandarhama Pattan and despite arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah along with his three other associates Ashiq Hussain, Irfan Ahmad and Mukhtar Ahmad, the solidarity and protest rallies were took out from various places in Islamabad district and people also held funeral prayers in absentia for Yakub Mamon who was hanged yesterday at Nagpur Jail, another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader and district president Bandipora Rayees Ahmad Mir was also arrested at the time when he was leading a protest rally in Prang Bandipora and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists Parvaiz Ahmad Tarzoo Sopore and Rameez Javaid Ganai have also been arrested by the police and had been kept in different police stations.

The other Hurriyat leaders who addressed the public at different places in the valley and informed them about the prevailing situations in the Jammu region and prosecution of Muslims in India include Amir Hamza Shah (Kupwara), Bashir Ahmad Farooqi (Qunis Bandipora), Peer Saifullah and Mohammad Yousuf Mujahid (Zanigam Beerwah), Mohammad Yaseen Attai and Maqbool Battargami (Hanjoura Chadoora), Abdul Gani Bhat (Chanakhan Sopore), Shaikh Mohammad Ramzan (Boitangu Sopore), Ghulam Mohammad Tantray (Creedi Pattan), Bilal Ahmad Yatoo (Rohama).With respect to this day, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani in his today’s message said that since the inception of the PDP-BJP government, the communal and fascist forces in Jammu has started a well planned movement against the Muslim population of the region and they are continuously hatching conspiracies to hurt and harm the Muslims in every possible and visible way. The newly elected MLAs of BJP (majority of whom are professional criminals) are leading these anti-Muslim movements in these areas and due to their backing the communal agents in administration, police and even in judiciary have got active and their only goal is how to harass and harm the Muslims.

Syed Ali Geelani said that on the one hand the Muslim particularly are being rendered homeless in the name of vacating the forest land and on the other hand plans are being made to occupy and capture their open lands with the use of power and construct Temples thereon. If any Muslim officer is holding any key post in the Jammu region, he is immediately being transferred and a RSS mentality person is appointed in his place. Hurriyat (G) chairman said that most concerning part of this entire situation is that the many ancient Masjids of Muslims are on the target of the communal forces and they are planning to demolish them on various pretexts. Geelani Sahab criticized Mufti Sayeed for maintaining criminal silence over the miseries of the Jammu Muslims and said that he had practically handed over the affairs of this region to his alliance partner. He is concerned only with his chair and he had entered into a secret agreement of “Idhar Hum aur Udhar Tum” (It is mine and that is yours) with the BJP. 

The pro-freedom leader however said that we will not leave the Jammu Muslims on the mercy of the communal forces and we will not allow anybody to repeat the history of 1947. By celebrating today as solidarity day for the Jammu Muslims, we want to give a clear message that if the process of harassing the Muslim population is not immediately stopped, the law and order situation of the entire state will get badly affected and that fire will be impossible to control for everybody. We will come on the roads and will start an agitation and if need arises the Muslims of the Valley will En masse move towards the Jammu region and will protect our brethren from the heat of the communal forces.
