Asiya Naqash inaugurates day long workshop on National Standards in FP

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with the Department of Health and Medical Education organized a day long workshop on National Standards in Family Planning and quality assurances here today.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Ms. Asiya Naqash inaugurated the workshop.Addressing the participants, the Minister highlighted the Family Welfare Programmes under implementation in the State.The Minister said the workshop is based on the various aspects of quality as well as schemes of the Family Planning Insurance Scheme.  She said the purpose of this workshop is to take feedback from implementing agencies at district level regarding impediments being faced by the States in implementation of the schemes so that consensus is arrived at in the workshop and decisions taken could be submitted to the Supreme Court as per the directions.

In the workshop the structure and mechanism of quality assurance committees at State and district level and the Family Planning assurance scheme were discussed threadbare.Deputy Commissioner Family Planning Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. S. K. Sikdar, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Baldev R Sharma, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Yash Paul also spoke on the occasion. Besides the Deputy Director Health, Assistant Directors, Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers and other senior officers of the concerned departments attended the workshop.Later, the Minister inspected ongoing macadamization work started from today on the roads at Hafiz Bagh to Elahi Bagh Srinagar and construction work of the drains taken up in the area.

The Minister was informed that an amount of Rs. 1.35 lakh shall be utilized for macadamization for which Rs. 10 lakhs was earmarked for construction of lanes and drains in the area. She directed the concerned authorities to complete the work within 15 days.The Minister also attended the annual day function organized by International Play School and Nursery Elahi Bagh where she distributed awards among the kids of Green Valley Educational Institute.
