Army apprehends LeT militant in Sopore

Army and police have jointly apprehended a militant in Sopore, defence spokesman said.In a statement issued to KNS, defence spokesman NN Joshi said that on a tip-off a joint team of Army and Police apprehended a LeT militant in a Vehicle Check Post established near Channa-Khan, Sopore by the Rashtriya Rifle Unit and JKP, at approximately 0530 hrs yesterday (July 28, 2015).A Chinese Pistol and three live rounds were recovered from the militant, he said. The apprehended militant was later identified as Ubaid Tariq Untoo (Faris) S/O Tariq Ahmad Untoo R/O Kralteng of LeT.Defence spokesman added that the militant was the main accused in Sopore- Blast case which took place in a Police vehicle near Time Pass Restaurant on June 20, 2015 in which one under trial militant namely Waheed Noor Khan of PaK got killed and one constable of Sopore Police martyred besides injuries to four Police persons. An FIR has been registered and the apprehended militant has been handed over to the local Police Station, Sopore. (KNS)
