“Legislator laid a ‘trap’ and suspended a teacher”

A teacher from frontier district Kupwara Monday narrated how a legislator, once his close friend in connivance with a police officer made a plan to suspend him from the government service.Master Nazir Ahmed was suspended from government service on Saturday after MLA Langate Engineer Rashid without accompanying any official from Education Department visited Government Middle School Khuddi Mawar and ‘found’ his friend turned foe absent from the school.

Earlier Rashid and i were good friends but later on over a land dispute we developed animosity with each other. On Saturday July 25 I received a call from Station House Officer Mawar Police Station Javaid Ahmed who asked me to enter into a negotiation with the legislator Rashid and for this purpose directed me to visit the police station,” Master Nazir told CNS.

He said that the police officer gave me an impression that Engineer Rashid was present in police station but that was not the case. “After reaching police station when I did not find Rashid, I sought permission for leave from the officer to attend my school, however, he did not allow me instead told me that SP sahab wants to meet you,” he said.

“As I was in the police station, Engineer Rashid without any official from Education Department visited my school, snatched ‘Arrival’ and went straight to ZEO office, directed him to suspend me and the ZEO obliged,” he said.     Master Nazir said that SHO Mawar allowed me to go, ‘probably he got signal from the legislator that mission has been accomplished.’ “I am such a naïve and didn’t know that calling me to police station was a trap,” he said. When contacted Engineer Rashid told CNS that it is his duty to take care of his constituency. “It was not only him who was absent but the headmaster of the school was also not present and action was also initiated against him. I am an open book and people know vested elements on the pretext of one or the other are hell bent to defame and disfigure my image,” he said. (CNS)
