DC Kupwara convenes meeting

The District Magistrate, Kupwara Mr. K.R. Ranjan today convened a meeting of officers of Revenue, Police, Information, Food safety and standards to review the court directions with regard to demolition of encroachments on streams, natural water bodies, State land, Kahcharaie and road sides under the guidelines of the High court.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Kupwara, Police authorities and Food safety and standards were present in the meeting.

The officers from Handwara and Karnah briefed the meeting about the action taken by them in this regard. It was given out that as many as 1500 illegal standing trees were axed during the drive in Handwara and Karnah in and around the natural water bodies and streams by the local administration.While the Food Safety Inspector informed the meeting that as many as 106 challans were registered against the erring traders while Rs.4.32 lakhs were collected as fine from the erring traders.The DC directed the officers for involving the grass root level village representatives in their jurisdiction, so that the orders from the high court be implemented in letter and spirit.
