Priya Sethi calls for making Swachh Bharat Mission a grand success

To spread awareness about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan the Jammu Municipal Corporation organised a quiz competition at Model Academy, B.C Road, here today.Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi was chief guest at the event.Underscoring the need to spread awareness about Swachh Bharat, the Minister said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had himself launched the Abhiyan and had given a clarion call to all for joining the mission of a clean India. She said clean streets, towns and surroundings are the aim with which the mission has been started and people as well as eminent personalities of the country have come forward to be part of the campaign.

“We have to join hands to make the mission a grand success and the government would take all necessary measures on its part to ensure cleanliness in our towns and cities,” she added.Commissioner, JMC Soujanya Sharma, Director MIER Dr. Renu Gupta, Joint Director Dr. Aditi Gupta, faculty and students of the institution attended the event.Calling upon the participants to get involved in the noble mission of cleanliness, Priya said tourists from all across the country and world visit the state and impact of clean tourist destinations, cities and towns would go a long way in making the image of the state. She said presently Shree Amarnath Yatra is underway and joint efforts by the administration and organizers should be made to ensure that proper cleanliness and sanitation is maintained in the Langers.

Speaking on the occasion, Soujanya Sharma said the JMC is organizing week long competition to spread awareness among the masses about the national mission. He said the corporation has launched an all out drive for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the city, adding that city residents should desist from practice of throwing waste in open and using polythene bags in day to day life.Four houses participated in the quiz competition and Edison house won the event. Einstein house, Edison house, Newton house and Darwin house had participated in the competition.Later, the Minister distributed prizes among the winners and participants of the competition.
