Sakina visits Shia population of Kulgam

Directs for ensuring all basic facilities during auspicious days

Minister for Social Welfare and ARI Trainings, Sakina Itoo during her extensive visit of Shia Population of Kulgam district. She visited various areas including Shahusachin, Wangam and took stock of arrangements made for Muharram by the authorities. She also took stock of the facilities available in the Imambaras in the district.The Minister interacted with the representatives of Shia community and enquired about measures taken for providing essential commodities to people like uninterrupted power supply, adequate drinking water, first aid, firewood, LPG and other essentials during the auspicious days of Muharram.The Minister directed concerned officers to ensure all the facilities to Shia community. She directed the officers of R&B Department to take immediate steps for repairing of roads on way to processions so that Muharram Mourners do not face any problem.

Ms Itoo instructed the officers to ensure adequate arrangements in the Shia dominated areas and extend all facilities and basic needs to the people particularly during Muharram days.She directed the officers of CA&PD to make available adequate stock of essential commodities which included Rice, Atta, Sugar, K-oil, LPG etc. on the sale outlets of the department particularly in Shia dominated areas.Regarding power supply, the Minister asked engineers of PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Muharram days.She asked concerned officers to take necessary measures of cleanliness in and around Imambaras besides where Zuljina processions are taken out. She also directed authorities of Health department to keep available ambulances, doctors, paramedics to provide health care facilities to the people during these days. The Minister was informed that Rs 12 lakh have been disbursed to various departments for Muharram arrangements by District Administration.During her visit various deputations called on the Minister and put forth their demands. The minister gave patient hearing to all deputationists and assured them that all their genuine demands will be redressed on priority in phased manner.
