Functioning of DRCS reviewed

General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K Ms. Roma Wani reviewed the functioning of District Red Cross Society (DRCS), Udhampur in a meeting attended by the members and officials held here today.District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mrs. Yasha Mudgal, Joint Director Planning, Mr. Rakesh Jamwal, Additional SP Khalil Poswal, Secretary Red Cross Society Udhampur, Dr. V.P Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Arun Sharma, Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Chander Prakash, member of the society and other officers were present in the meeting.General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society appreciated the efforts of district administration for making District Red Cross Society more vibrant.  She impressed upon the officers and member of the society to put in their best efforts to raise and mobilize resources to enable the society to help the people in the District and carry forward the noble cause of serving humanity.

She asked the Chairman DRCS for opening of Jan Aushadhi Shop in District Hospital as early as possible so that the needy patients may avail the benefits of medicines on subsidized rates. Ms. Roma also asked the DDC to ensure that Red Cross emblem may not be misused by any person so that the belief of the people in the noble mission may not be hurt.Speaking at the meeting, the DDC who is also chairman of the DRCS, apprised about the progress and achievements made in the district during last fiscal. She said that an amount of about Rs 16 lacs were collected from various educational institutions, life members and others out of which about Rs. Nine lacs were spent for providing   succor to the needy in the event of any unforeseen or emergent situation. She further apprised that efforts are being made to significantly enlarge and strengthen the Red Cross movement in the district.She also apprised that an Annual News Letter is launched in the district with keen initiative of Executive Secretary, Dr. V.P Sharma which would enable us to reach out to the far off places of the district and bring people closer to the redcross with a spirit of volunteer services.
