Swan Channelization utmost priority of our Govt: CM

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced to open a storage depot of Indian Oil at Una with estimated cost  Rs. 450 crore besides a CSD Canteen to facilitate the Army personnel. He was speaking at a public meeting in Santokhgarh, in district Una today.  He said that work on Santokhgarh sewerage scheme would also be expedited and proper drainage system would be developed  in Una which would solve the water logging problem during the rainy season.Chief Minister said giving utmost priority was being given to Rs. 922 crore Swan River Channelization and to this major project, the present State Government  had put in sincere efforts with strong political willpower to get clearance for the project in a record nine months period from Government of India (GoI). 

He said that it was the biggest project  of  its kind  North India. Under the 4th phase of this project total 11 kilometers long area of Swan river from Daulatpur bridge to Gagret bridge will be channelized under the project besides channelization of all 73 tributaries of Swan from Daulatpur to Santokhgarh bridge. He said that the channelization of Swan river and all its tributaries, the people would no more have to suffer devastation due to floods  and rather they would witness an era of prosperity and development and would be economically strengthened. He said that inauguration of  2nd   phase of Swan Channelization was done by the then Chief Minister Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal when its work was still  incomplete and  laid the foundation stone of 3rd phase without any budgetary provision. He said that the State Government would take up this matter with Union Government for getting funds for its completion. 

He said that Mehatpur Area-II would also be developed for industrial activities and industrial houses would not be allowed to let their effluent into open and river and drains and conservation of environment would be  ensured.Shri Virbhadra Singh announced to upgrade Primary Health Centre, Santokhgarh to Community Health Centre. He said that State Government had accorded top priority to the health sector and vacant posts of doctors and para medical staff were being filled on priority basis. He said that Santokhgarh-Una road would also  be improved besides metalling and tarring.  He said that science classes would be started in Government Senior Secondary School, Jakhera from next academic session. Shri Virbhadra Singh announced Rs. 5.1 lakh for constructing ‘Sarai’ at Valmiki Mandir Santokhgarh. He said that one room would be provided for press persons in Nagar Parishad office premises, Santokhgarh. 

Chief Minister also participated in Shobha Yatra of State level Sombhadra Mahotsav Una. He also inaugurated the exhibitions set up by various departments, boards, corporations and other organizations at Indira Ground Una and evinced keen interest in the exhibits. 

Earlier, the Chief Minister performed the foundation stone ceremony of Civil Hospital Haroli to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 525.41 lakh and Labour Hostel at Bathu to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.46 crore for Bathu-Bathri-Tahliwal Industrial Corridor. It would have 64 dwelling units for housing 128 persons besides a Recreation Room, Provision for Indoor Games, Common Mess/Canteen, Daily Need Based shops, Playground and Parking facility.Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of Common Facility Centre at Bathu, for Industrial Corridor of Tahliwal, Santoshgarh and Bathu-Bathri, to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 10.08 crore. As many as  200 units are functioning here with total investment of Rs. 700 crore and providing employment to 7000 persons. It would have facilities of auditorium, conference hall, banks, post office, shopping complex, guest house, café, cyber complexes, recreation, yoga centre, restaurant, dispensary and office for micro, small and medium facilitation council. 

Industries Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri thanked the Chief Minister for getting Rs. 922 crore 4th phase of Swan Channelization in record time which would solve the many problems of people of the area. He thanked the Chief Minister for opening Irrigation and Public Health Circle Office at Una and making Nagar Panchayat Santokhgarh to Nagar Parishad without any demand.He said that Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh was a visionary leader who was in active politics for more than 50 years. He said that State had achieved milestones of development under his leadership and most of development works in Santokhgarh area had been done during his tenure as Chief Minister including opening of CHC, Vegetable Market, Bus Stand, commercial complex etc. He said that previous BJP Government had framed false cases against Shri Virbhadra Singh but he had been exonerated from all charges by the Hon’ble Courts. Shri Virender Dharmani, President, District Congress Committee, Una, Shri Rajiv Gautam, Director, KCC Bank, Shri Satpal Raizada, Member Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Hajari Lal, President, Block Congress Committee, Una also spoke on the occasion. 

Shri Shiv Kishore Vasudev, President, Nagar Council, Santokhgarh welcomed the Chief Minister. Shri Kuldeep Kumar, Chairman, 4th Finance Commission and MLA, Shri Onkar Sharma, former Vice Chairman, Agro Packaging, Shri Shiv Kumar Saini, Chairman, APMC, Una, Shri Avinash Kapila, former DCC President, Una, Shri Sita Ram Bhardwaj, President, Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan Sangh, Shri Ranjeet Singh Rana, President, BCC, Haroli, Shri Ganesh Dutt Bharwal, former MLA, Shri Mohan Chauhan, Director, Industries, Shri Rajender Singh, Director, Information and Public Relations, Shri Abhishek Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Ms. Nandita Gupta, Labour Commissioner, Shri Anupam Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Una, senior officers and prominent persons were also present on the occasion.
