Hurriyat (G) condemns smashing of vehicles, houses in old city

While strongly condemning the vandalizing and smashing of dozens of vehicles and residential houses in the Nawakadal and Safakadal areas on the Eid day by the CRPF and police, Hurriyat Conference (G) Tuesday said that the damage to the property worth Rs 12 to 15 lakh has occurred on that day and government is still to take any notice in this regard.

“Whenever any untoward incident happens with regarding to the law and order situations, the Indian forces revenge it to the common people and it is the grave violations of the citizen rights which should be condemned at each level,” a spokesman of Hurriyat (G) said in a statement to KNS.

“A delegation of the local people from Nawakadal and Safakadal areas came to the office of the Hurriyat and complained that after the Eid prayers in the Eid Gah Srinagar a small stone pelting incident occurred in the area and children engaged the forces for sometime in the battle but after that a large contingent of CRPF and police arrived in the area and attacked many mohallas there and destroyed whatever came in their way. The forces went berserk and broke down every window and window panes of the houses and the vehicles. The locals said that although property worth lakhs were damaged in that incident but the government has not taken any notice of that,” he said.
