Shabir Ahmad Shah felicitates Muslims on eve of Eid ul Fitr

'Shah not allowed performing Friday prayers, other religious obligations in Ramadan'

Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah while felicitating the Muslims of the State on the eve of Eid ul Fitr urged them to "pray for the freedom of Kashmir and prosperity of the Muslim world."According to a statement to KNS, "During these remaining days of the blessed month, we should pray for our freedom from forcible occupation and remember the martyrs in our sincere supplications," Shah in his Eid message said.It is pertinent to mention here that Shabir Ahmad Shah was continuously kept under house arrest during the month of Ramadan and was barred from performing his religious obligations including Friday prayers.

In his message, DFP Chairman appealed people not to forget the families of martyrs "who sacrificed their today for our better tomorrow." "We must take care of orphans, widows, poor and destitute and families of martyrs as it is our moral and religious responsibility. Our real Eid will be only when we achieve the mission of martyrs - the complete freedom from the pangs of slavery."Severely condemning the arrest spree launched by police on behest of state administration on eve of Eid, Shabir Ahmad Shah said the present regime surpassed all records of inflicting tyranny and brutality over people. "People are barred from offering prayers at many places and there are restrictions on their daily activities. Instead of releasing the prisoners, they (authorities) are ruining the career of youth by arresting them. This is extremely shameful on their part."

Meanwhile, the DFP spokesperson while castigating the authorities over placing Shabir Ahmad Shah under continuous house arrest said the so-called government is bereft of any moral and human conscience. He also criticized the state administration over what he called as dual nature saying that on one hand they (govt) collected tax from Kashmiris to provide comfort to Amarnath Yatris and on other have waged a war against majority population of the State.
