DC Srinagar reviews flood preparedness

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone, convened a meeting of officers of various departments here today to review the flood preparedness in view of weather forecast issued by the Metrological Department.The meeting was attended by the  officers of Irrigation & Flood Control, UEED, SMC, Fire and Emergency Services, Sub Divisional Magistrate Srinagar (E)/(W) & Assistant Commissioner (Rev) Srinagar.The Deputy Commissioner directed all the officers to remain present at their headquarters alongwith their field officers to meet any eventuality in case of heavy rains. It was informed that the  Irrigation & Flood Control Department has established Control Rooms  at Srinagar with contact Nos.  0194-2311834 (I&FC) Member Secretary, (Mr. Afroz Ahmed) 9469516234, Nissar Ahmed AEE I&FC, 9906703759 and Ajaz Ahmed AEE I&FC, 9797775050. People of District Srinagar are advised to contact the above telephone numbers in case of any emergency. Further the district administration has already issued duty roaster for all the five zones and the officers deployed for duties have been directed to remain headquartered round the clock in order to meet any contingency.Syed Haneef Balkhi, Sub Divisional Magistrate Srinagar (Cell NO. 9419009472) has been designated as Nodal Officer floods for District Srinagar.
