Hurriyat (M) to participate in Pak High Commission’s Eid Milan party

The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday convened an extraordinary meeting of conglomerate’s Executive Committee Members at his Nageen residence.In a statement to KNS a spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) said during the meeting the members took detailed stock of the ongoing political situation besides holding an exhaustive discussion in response to the invitation extended by the Pakistan High Commissioner to New Delhi to Hurriyat leaders for Eid Milan party.“It was decided in the meeting that a two member delegation comprising of chairman APHC Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Hurriyat leader Moulana Abbas Ansari would participate and represent APHC in the Eid Milan party, adding, the decision was taken keeping in view the policy and principles of APHC. The participants in the meeting said that  Hurriyat has always advocated for the dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir and other issues, adding, in case any dialogue process takes place between the two countries ignoring Kashmir dispute and keeping Kashmiris out of any such process, it would be a futile exercise. The participants stated that Kashmir dispute was the core issue between the two countries while all other issues were of secondary importance and this point would be conveyed to Pakistani diplomats,” he said.

While finalizing the arrangements of observing Jumait-ul-Vida, Youm-e-Qadoos, and Youm-e-Kashmir, it was decided in the meeting that resolution on the subject would be presented in Mosques, Imambargahs, Shrines and other religious places in connection across Kashmir Valley in this connection.“The participants demanded the unconditional release of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in Kashmir and outside Kashmir jails on the eve of Idd-ul-Fitr. They stated that despite the terms of many of the prisoners have ended, they continue to languish in jails, adding, widespread crackdown on the Kashmiri youth has been started by the government forces across Kashmir which was a cause of concern and was a highly condemnable action,” the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, addressing a religious gathering at Mehboob Alam, Zoonimar, Mirwaiz threw light over the significance of the month of Ramadan and said that the month of blessing inculcates good qualities in a man so that he plays his role responsibly towards building a better society based on Islamic values.He said the holy month of Ramadan teaches us to shun materialism and worldly luxuries and devote ourselves in the path of Allah and help the needy people.The Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that rewards of fasting are many, but in this month they are multiplied. He said that people should show magnanimity in this holy month and help the poor and needy besides contributing in charitable activities.He stated that Masjids and religious institutions should act as centers for carrying out socio-economic reforms besides spreading religious and Tableeghi education.Mirwaiz appealed people that Masjids and religious institutions should be allowed to speak about the socio-economic issues faced by the people apart from being used for religious purposes. He said there was a need to use Masjids as major centers for carrying out social reforms.
