Winter capital to be developed on modern lines: Priya Sethi

‘Coalition Govt working to provide good governance, transparent administration’

Underlining commitment of the government to develop Jammu city on modern lines, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi said the coalition government is steadfast on its resolve to address developmental aspirations of people of the state and special focus is being paid to equip winter capital with all required urban infrastructure.She said the government is laying focused attention to develop capital cities on the lines of metro cities and modern infrastructure projects have been launched for the purpose.

She was speaking at a function organized by residents of Rajinder Nagar and adjoining areas of Ward number 19, here today. The felicitation function was organized by the residents to welcome and felicitate Priya and senior leader Yudhvir Sethi.Appreciating the overwhelming faith posed by people during the assembly elections, Priya said that history has been created in the state and all out efforts are being made by the elected representatives to come up to the expectations of the people. She said Ministers, MLAs and local leaders are working round the clock to ensure that demands of people are addressed on priority and all efforts are being made to give voice to those who were earlier not heard in the corridors of power.“Exemplary initiatives have been taken in the first hundred days of the present government and the agenda of development forged between coalition partners would be implemented in true spirit,” she added.She said special focus would be given to address issues pertaining to women and youth, adding that different welfare schemes and programs have been launched for women, old age, widow and other vulnerable groups of society.“Our Prime Minister has launched special programs to reach out to all and series of initiatives like PM Jan Dhan Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, PM Suraksha Bima Yojna and Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna have been taken,” she added.

She said education sector has shown considerable improvement and good results are coming from government run schools. She said transparent transfer policy and new education policy have been designed to revamp education sector in the state.Addressing the gathering, Yudhvir Sethi said the overwhelming support of people to the party has resulted in a historic coalition in the state which is based on the agenda of development, corruption free and a transparent government. He said people have voted to establish an enabling environment for all round economic development of the state and prosperity of the people.“Our government has been formed to jointly work for taking forward all the three regions of the state on the path of peace, progress and prosperity,” he added.Stressing on exploring new tourism potential areas in the region, Yudhvir said that Pilgrim and Adventure tourism have tremendous scope in the region and the government would work together with all stakeholders of the tourism industry to tap the tourism potential of the area. “Our approach has been  to incorporate new tourism potential areas of health, adventure, sports and other such tourism activities,” he added.He said upcoming projects like Artificial Lake, Gandola rope way, Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex would become focal points for tourists in the region.

He said special assistance would be provided to those involved in Pashmina shawls of Basholi area and financial assistance would be extended for power looms, adding that Basholi paintings and Pashmina from the area would be promoted at national and international levels.On the occasion, the residents presented demands pertaining to the locality which included, black topping of road connecting with canal road,  sanitation staff for the area, special sanitation drive, cleaning of nallah in the locality, up-gradation of lane and drains and proper arrangement for clearing water logging during rains in the area.  The Minister issued on the spot directions to the JMC authorities for addressing the genuine demands projected by the people.Later, in order to have an appraisal of the difficulties faced by the residents a joint tour was also conducted of the area by the Minister and Yudhvir Sethi.President of the Canal road businessman association Vishal, Munish Gupta, Rakesh Mahajan, Rajesh Dogra, Dev Raj Mahajan, Ismail, Darshan Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Ms Anju Dogra, Anil Masoom, Raju Pardhan, Ashish Sareen, Munesh Sabharwal, Harjeet Singh, Rakesh Gupta, Ms Saroj, Ms Darshana, Shiv Kumar, Gurcharan Singh, Parveen, Ashwani Gupta, Prominent citizens, women delegates and local leaders attended the function.
