Speaker takes stock of damaged infrastructure

Directs removal of encroachments

Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta conducted extensive tour of Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himmat, Narwal, Qasim Nagar, Gangyal, Model Town, Bandu Rakh, Dashmesh Nagar and other areas of Gandhi Nagar Constituency here today.

Commissioner Jammu Municipality Soujanya Kumar Sharma besides senior officers of PHE, PDD, ERA, Municipality and other concerned departments accompanied the Speaker.During his visit, the Minister took stock of damages caused by water-logging in various areas due to encroachment of Nallahs. He directed the Municipality and other concerned departments to remove these encroachments immediately which are causing extensive damages to government and public property and creating hurdles in execution of road projects.

The Speaker warned that strict action would be taken against encroachers and directed the concerned departments to take adequate steps in this regard. He also sought public cooperation in this regard and urged people to cooperate with the administration to curb encroachments.Mr. Gupta asked the concerned departments to ensure that all civil works are completed in a time bound manner.The Speaker visited Trikuta Nagar and was apprised by the locals about the damage caused due to incessant rains. He asked the concerned agencies to start restoration work of lanes and drains besides clearing the chocked Nallahs so that the road widening/blacktopping works could be completed at the earliest and people do not face any inconvenience during rainy season.

The Speaker also visited Channi Himmat and took stock of the problems faced by the people. He was apprised by the locals about the unscheduled power cuts and irregular water supply. Mr Gupta directed the concerned officers of PDD and PHE to ensure proper water and power supply to the locals.The Speaker also visited receiving station Channi Himmat. He was informed that this 20 MV receiving station which was non-functional due to technical fault is being made fully functional to  improve power supply to Channi Himmat and adjoining areas. The Speaker said that adequate steps will be taken to augment power supply and mitigate the problems of the people in a time bound manner.
