‘Prevented from marching towards martyrs’ graveyard’

Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah was today arrested by a large contingent of police force outside party office when he along with hundreds of party workers tried to break police cordon to march towards martyrs’ graveyard, party spokesperson said in a statement to KNS.“Apart from Shah, police arrested Engineer Farooq Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi and dozens of party activists.”The spokesperson while coming down heavily on state administration for observing martyrs’ day by placing the whole resistance leadership under house arrest said there is no justification for such “anti-people” government to pay tributes to martyrs as “July 13 martyrs themselves sacrificed their lives while fighting the despotic and autocratic regimes like the present ones.”

“It is irony that present anti-people and tyrant rulers are paying tributes to those martyrs who fought against the people like them,” he said.According to spokesperson, Shah, earlier while addressing party members and workers said the July 13 martyrs rose against the oppression of Dogra regime and the people of Jammu Kashmir while following their footsteps launched a movement against Indian annexation and forcible occupation which continues hitherto. “We’ll continue our struggle for freedom and follow the mission of our martyrs till we break the clutches of slavery from Indian forcible and illegal occupation.”Lashing out at pro-India politicians, Shah accused them of subjecting the whole nation to pangs of slavery and oppression “just for their petty material gains.”

On the occasion, DFP Chairman reiterated that the solution to Kashmir issue lies in the implementation of UN resolutions or tripartite meaningful talks. “The dispute of Kashmir continues to be a nuclear flash point which can trigger war between two neighboring nations anytime the situation simmers. The need of the hour and wisdom lies in resolving the issue at earliest, in the better interest of the establishment of peace in South Asia particularly in subcontinent. I once again appeal world powers and United Nations to fulfill their responsibilities by playing an active role in this regard – take cognizance of oppression and unabated human rights violations taking place in this part of globe.”Meanwhile, according to DFP spokesperson, the Freedom Party representatives in all districts and provinces took out processions in favor of July 13 martyrs as a mark of tribute.
