Priya Sethi visits educational institutions in Leh

Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi today visited various educational institutions including TCV SOS, Bharthiya Vidhya Niketan School Choglamsar, Druk Padma Karpo School, Shey and residential hostel for specially-abled children in Chuchot. She was accompanied by Principal DIET, Chief Education Officer Leh, Special Officer-Cultural Academy and others. At TCV SOS, Director-Kalzang Phuntsog and Principal-Lhundup Namgyal showed the Minister around the school. Impressed by the discipline, standard of education and dedication among teachers of the school, the Minister urged the Director of the school to adopt a government school in the area and develop it as a model school. A colorful cultural programme was organized at BVN School in honour of the Minister.

She expressed great satisfaction over the standard of education be it government or private in the district. She stressed on using education not only to excel in academics but to become a good human and a patriotic citizen.  She urged the students to attain good education and serve for the welfare of the people and society.Geeta Tai Gundey, All India Mehala Pramukh, Principal Gurpal Singh Thakur and President Tashi Samphel also spoke on the occasion.During her visit to Druk Padma Karpo School, the Minister appreciated the education system and management of the school.  At the residential hostel, Chuchot the Minister enquired about the facilities provided to the specially disable children and asked for important requirements. She advised the CEO to have a brochure of the hostel and record of the children’s medical checkup.Later, she visited the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra, Leh and convened two important meetings with Education Department and Central Institute of Buddhist Philosophy, Choglamsar.
