Police registers case:Contractor thrashes R&B officials for objecting the use of sub-standard material

Police Friday registered a case against the owner of a hot mix plant after he allegedly thrashed a Junior Engineer and Supervisor working with Roads and Buildings Department. The owner of the Hot Mix Palnt lost his cool when the R&B officials directed him to maintain required specification while black topping the Airport Humhama Road.Reports said that a team from Quality Control Staff of R&B Division Chadoora made an inspection of Airport road on which the work of laying black top has been entrusted to a company Paul Brothers and Sons. “I was simply following the directions of my Minister and reacted when I found the contractor using sub-standard material. 

I directed the contractor to maintain required specification that irked his son present on spot. He not only abused and thrashed us but also hit us with a steel rod,” Junior Engineer wishing not to be named told CNS.Reports said that the Junior Engineer and Supervisor registered a formal complaint against the assailant after which police booked him under section 332 of RPC vide FIR number 32. “We have registered a case and booked the culprit, who happens to be the son of a contractor,” said a police official. Pertinently,  Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari has been reiterating on daily basis that there would be no compromise on quality of work.  He has even asked the engineers of R&B department to strictly follow the specifications and ensure that macadamization is done as per the prescribed norms.
