Sukhnandan Kumar visits Pahalgam Base Camp, takes stock of Yatra arrangements

Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary Friday said that the Government has made elaborate arrangements for conduct of Yatra this year which is going on smoothly without any interruption.The Minister said this after visit to Chandanwari and Nunwan base camps in Pahlagam, set up by the State Government in collaboration with Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and various Langer Associations of the country.

Appealing to the people of the country to come Kashmir without any apprehension to pay obeisance at the holy cave of Shri Amarnathji, the Minister asked the yatris to spread the message of peace, love, humanity and hospitality from the people of Kashmir all over the country after they return to their homes.

In an interaction with the Minister the devotees from various States and places of the country including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Ahmadabad, Patna, Yatris expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Government for smooth conduct of Yatra.While reviewing the arrangements, the Minister was informed that 7500 yatris are daily allowed to proceed to the holy cave via Baltal route. He was informed that medical facilities, ration, potable water facilities besides STD and internet facilities have been made available for the devotees.

 The Minister was informed that from this year Permanent Drinking Water facilities at Nunwan Base Camp have been arranged by the Public Health Engineering Department and for the purpose 5 hydrants (hand-pumps) have been permanently installed in the camp.Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Khan, Chief Engineer, PHE, Mr. G. M. Bhat, SDM Pahalgam and Camp Directors accompanied the Minister during the visit.Later, the Minister also went around the camp and inspected Langers set up by various Langer Associations for the convenience of the yatris.
