Bhalla asks youth to avail benefits of self employment schemes

Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has asked the unemployed youth to start their own ventures for earning a dignified livelihood, adding that for this purpose Government has launched number of welfare schemes.This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the students at the inaugural function of 2-day ‘Festive Hues’ organised by Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) here  his morning at Karan Market.The exhibition is all about the power behind unity. Being festive season beginning with Eid, Dussehera, Diwali, Guru Purab and Christmas, the students displayed their talent by blending the perse cultures and displaying them at one platform. The display was a creative blend of tradition  and culture.The celebration of ‘Meethi Sewaian’ was seen merging with festival of lights which flowed into the Nagri of the guru and then was seen merging into a dream where santa comes on a reindeer to make our wishes come true.The festivity was symbolised by the fun and frolic seen in the dance scenes created. There was the famous Dandia with the folk lore of Punjab alongwith the garbha and merry making.   

Mr. Bhalla said coalition Government has provided loans on subsidy basis to unemployed youth of the State for establishment of small and large scale industries through KVIB, KVIC on minimal rate of interest. He called upon the unemployed youth to avail the benefits of such schemes in opening their own ventures. He said “it is very difficult for the Government to provide employment to every unemployed youth of the State” adding that Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Policy for Youth was a vital step which forward to promote self-employment ventures. He said the scheme has received a great response in terms of registration by the youth in seeking employability avenues.The Minister stressed upon the officers to provide proper information and guidance to the unemployed youth so that they can avail the benefits of various self-employment schemes. He said that the employment fairs being organized across the state, besides establishment of counselling centers was an important step taken by the Government in providing vital information to the youth regarding employment opportunities. He exhorted for making these counselling centers fully functional so that the targeted lot was benefitted.

Mr. Bhalla appreciated the efforts of the students of NIFD on their wonderful display of handmade products in the exhibition.Earlier, Mr. Bhalla also inspected the exhibition where students of NIFD displayed their stalls like candles, Diyas, Thalis and Hand Made baskets for sale to mark the coming of festival of lights. All the things made could be used as gifts for ‘Diwali’. Block printed suits, embroidered Kurtis, Sarees, home furnishing etc were also the highlights of the exhibition.
