Seeking peoples cooperation to accomplish government determination to reach out the neglected and ignored areas of the state, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma asserted that the present regime to keen to develop hilly and rural areas so as to fulfil its commitment with the people.This was stated by the Minister while inspecting the widening work of Fowahora Chowk Akhnoor, Jio Poto Gulab Singh Library sewerage work construction work near Radha Swami Satsang, 100 bedded newly constructed hospital, OHTs in the complex of Dakbanglow and Sub District Hospital Akhnoor and construction work in the right bank of river of Chenab of Dusshera ground Akhnoor.At Fowahora Chowk Akhnoor, the Minister review the widening work which would be completed and instructed the execution authority GREF to complete all the remaining work within one month period. He visit the construction site of Jio Poto Gulab Singh Library near Government Boys Higher Secondary School Akhnoor to be raised at an estimated cost of Rs. one crore. He also visited the newly construction site of Sub District 100 bedded hospital, overhead water tank and construction Dusshera ground Akhnoor.

Sham stressed upon the need for bring in more accountability and transparency in timely utilization of funds and completion of the ongoing projects within stipulated time frame. He asked the local administration as well as watch on the implementation of developmental and welfare schemes in the Akhnoor town as it will help enforcing accountability in the public affairs.The Minister said that Akhnoor tehsil has witnessed massive development in all sectors because of an effective planning adding that various schemes under PHE, R&B, PDD, Health, Tourism and Education have been initiated to achieve balanced development in the town.He asked the PHE authorities to complete two overhead tanks in time bound manner to provide safe drinking water to the Akhnoor town. He also described Akhnoor tehsil as water scarcity zone and said that the government was paying focused attention an khandi areas to augment drinking water as well as irrigation facilities. He directed the concerned engineers/officers to undertaken repair, cleaning and augmentation of existing dug well as well as tube wells of the areas.

Later, the Minister visit the sub district hospital Akhnoor and review the facility provided to the patients. He also visited the emergency ward Gyne/OBST ward, children ward, ENT ward, OPD unit etc and instructed the medical fraternity to provide the best treatment to the rural patients. He said after completion of the newly constructed 100 bedded sub district hospital Akhnoor, the sufficient space and other modern type medical facilities available to the rural population.Among others SE Hydraulic, Rajeev Malhotra, Executive Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, PWD, (R&B) and senior officers of various departments also accompanied the Minister.
