NSF holds protest against Pakistan over border firing

The University unit of National Secular Forum (NSF) held a protest rally on Saturday in Jammu against the firing and shelling by Pakistani troops on the border areas of Jammu for the last 10 days.The protesters said that the situation in Jammu was very "critical" and demanded a strong action against Pakistan for cease fire violations.Sukhdev Singh President NSF said the state government should establish camps in border areas and also accommodate those who have been affected due to regular firing by Pakistan."It is the duty of the government to accommodate and rehabilitate those who have been affected in border firing. Some people have started migrating from these areas and government should accommodate them in safer places", he said.NSF Member demanded compensation for the families whose cattle have been killed and houses, shops and other belongings damaged and said the government should make arrangements to shift families living along the border to safer places until the situation becomes normal.

The NSF Member said border scouts should be recruited from among ex-servicemen and retired officers and personnel of the Army and central paramilitary forces as well as youths living in the border areas of the state Among those who were present in the protest included Qayoom Malik President University Unit, Barket Ali, Ajaz Shah, Sanjeev Kumar, Pavinder Singh, Pushpinder Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Vijay Kumar all students and scholars of Jammu University and others.
