DDC launches “Digital-India Week” Celebrations

District Development Commissioner,Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, launched the “Digital India Week” celebrations in Udhampur today in presence of district and sectoralofficers as a part of flagship celebrations announced by the Prime Minister across the country from July 1 to 7, 2015.

Arrangements related to various events and functions outlined for the Digital India Week in the district were also discussed during the inaugural session. Workshop on e-Governance, Selection of Udhampur as e-District by Government of India-an introduction, symposiums, display of video films, photo exhibitions, building permission mela, Session on e-Panchayat, e-Courts and other related topics are organised by the district administration for the week.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shahid Iqbal highlighted the importance of e-Governance in transparent administration and the vision of the Prime Minister of India for bridging the digital divide for welfare of masses. He informed that Udhampur has been selected for e-District Project by Department of Information Technology, J&K Govt for the project to be funded by the Department of Information technology, Govt of India under which more than 25 services will be provided to the people at their door steps. 

The project envisions development of IT infrastructure in Tehsils, Blocks, Niabats and even villages.The DDC impressed upon the officers of Rural Development Department for planning and implementation of e-Panchayat Project in the district during the current financial year. He also appreciated the e-Governance initiatives of Transport Department in ARTO office and also directed the GM DIC and Dy Director Employment for bringing maximum services and clearances under e-Governance for ensuring transparent and easy service delivery as well as access to services.As CAPD was directed for finalization of details for e-PDS under state project. Earlier, arrangements related to Shri Amarnath Yatra were also reviewed and the yatra was accorded warm reception at Jakheni. SSP Suleiman Choudhary, ADC Angrez Singh Rana, CPO Rakesh Jamwal, Project Director NHAI R P Singh, Project Director Chenani Nashri Project J S Rathore, Col H S Man, District and Sectoral Officers of all the departments, and officers of Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, Civil Defence attended the meeting.
