BJP’s “Refugee Adhikaar Yatra” today commenced from Poonch, where before its start wreaths were laid at Brig. Pritam Singh Memorial by BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma alongwith State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, State General Secretary & Yatra Incharge Rajiv Jasrotia, BJP State Cells Incharge Sat Sharma (C.A), Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency Incharge Yudhvir Sethi, State Publicity Secretary Aseem Gupta, BJYM State President Ravinder Raina, Poonch District Prabhari S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Poonch District President Sunil Gupta, Pardeep Sharma and Satish Sasan. This yatra will pass through Rajouri, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Akhnoor, Lakhanpur, Kathua, Hiranagar, Samba and culminate in a big public rally at R.S. Pura on November 01, after covering 70 cities and towns, which have significant population of refugees from Pakistan, PoK and other areas. The yatra is meant to highlight the plight of the refugees on account of the valley centric state government’s discrimination with them.

Jugal Kishore Sharma, who is leading the yatra, while addressing the party workers at Brig. Pritam Singh memorial, said that this government is moved and motivated only to please and pander to the desires and wishes of those segments of the society who are not reconciled to the accession of the state with India. It has shown great concern for such elements who crossed LoC to become effective in opposing integration of the state with rest of the country through gun culture and with great diligence has put in a very lucrative rehabilitation package in place for them. On the contrary, those unfortunate people who got uprooted in 1947, 1965, 1971 and thereafter are languishing as rootless, stateless and  rightless people. While some of them are deprived of the basic democratic right to vote, others are without any adequate and meaningful rehabilitation scheme from the government. The BJP has been raising the issues concerning these refugees and shall continue to do so with more vigour and intensity.

Chander Prakash Ganga, in his address, said that Congress, NC and PDP have been making promises liberally to the refugees but have actually done nothing for them. These political parties have always shown soft corner for elements who are inimical to the nationalist cause but pay only lip service to the refugees when it comes to doing practical anything for them.Rajiv Jasrotia said that the BJP has been struggling for the cause of the refugees right from day one. He said that even his own family has a sterling history of having worked for their cause. He said that the recently held 72 hours dharna near border in Hiranagar was to get the attention of the nation towards the plight of the refugees. The present yatra is follow-up of the long string of party’s action programmes for enforcement of the basic human and democratic rights of the refugees and BJP shall not rest till the refugees receive a just and deserved deal from the state, he declared.
