Shabir reviews plan allocation of Health Services

Govt. assures adequate funds for maintenance of Health Services

A high level meeting of Planning, Finance and Health Departments was held under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan here today.The meeting reviewed current fiscal plan allocation of health services and took several decisions to further improve the quality health services in the State.

Principal Secretary Planning, Mr. B R Sharma, Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Mr. Gaznfar Hussain, Director Finance, Dr. Ishaq, Director CSS, Mr. R. S. Jamwal, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Director ISM, Dr. Ab. Kibir, Drug and Food Controller, Mr Satash Gupta besides other senior Officers of Planning, Finance and Health Departments attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 80.50 crore is being expended under health services during current financial year under State plan.The Minister under scored the need for additional funds to complete the on-going health projects in the State under State Plan. He said that though the government has projected Rs 70 crore for infrastructure building during current financial year under NRHM but yet there is need for arranging more funds to complete the projects. He asked the concerned authorities of Planning and Finance to give priorities in release of adequate funds under the health sector to complete the on-going hospital projects well in time. He said maintainer of health services should not effect at any cost, as government is committed to provide better health services to the people adding that there should be no financial  cut in the plan allocation of health services.

The Principal Secretary, Planning, assured the Minister that due care would be given in release of funds for maintenance of health services in the State. He also said that State share funds for implementation of components of Flagship NRHM and other Centre Schemes is being released well in time and balanced amount if any would be also released in time.

The Minister said that at present the construction of 15 major hospital projects are apace in the State at the total cost of Rs. 535 crore against which Rs.228 crore utilized on these projects up to last fiscal and during current financial year Rs. 11 crore is being expended during current financial year under State plan, he , however said that government has projected Rs.70 crore  under NRHM for execution of these projects during current financial year. He asked the Planning department to consider additional funds for completion of these projects well in time under State plan, as yet there is need of Rs 295 crore for completion of these projects.Mr. Shabir said that government was committed to provide quality health services to the people adding that in this regard the Flagship NRHM programme helps a lot to improve health services especially at primary and secondary levels in the state.
