Reviews status of Swachh Vidyalaya drive in J&K

Chief Secretary, Iqbal Khandey Friday held a video conference with DCs to review the implementation of the Swachh Vidyalaya (Clean School) drive in schools across the State.Swachh Vidyalya is a national campaign to ensure that every school in the country has a functional toilet & water facility by 30 June 2015.During the video conference, Chief Secretary interacted with the DCs, urging them to ensure that all schools in their respective Districts have a functional toilet and water facility available in or just near the school premises."With just few days remaining in completing the target, all DCs must ensure construction/ restoration work on all the newly sanctioned toilets, old toilets, and dysfunctional toilets is completed before 30th June" he asserted adding that figures suggest that special effort from all concerned officers is needed to achieve the target. 

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary asked both the Divisional Commissioners to monitor the progress continuously with DC's.Pertinently, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had announced from the ramparts of the Red Fort during his maiden Independence Day address last year, his Government’s intention to construct toilets in all schools within one year.Principal Secretary, Planning & Development, B R Sharma, Commissioner Secretary, School Education, Shaleen Kabra, Divisional Commissioner's, Jammu, Kashmir, Secretary PHE, Secretary Rural Development, Director's School Education, Jammu, Kashmir, all Chief Education Officer's and other senior officers participated in the meeting.
