Lal Singh inspects health institutions in Kargil, assures better healthcare facilities

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Ch. Lal Singh, who is presently touring Ladakh region, today inspected various health institutions and took stock of the medicare facilities in the desert district.The Minster visited the Sub District Hospital Drass and District Hospital Kargil, and enquired about the availability of medicines, other life saving equipments and allied services available for the patients. He inspected various blocks, wards and laboratories of the hospitals and received first hand information about the utilization of services.After the inspection the Minister convened a meeting with the doctors and paramedics in the District Hospital Kargil and urged upon them to work with dedication and honesty, saying that medicine is a noble profession and all those associated with this profession must fulfill their obligations with missionary zeal. 

He said that the present coalition Government was committed to provide better medicare facilities to the patients across the State and several steps to improve the infrastructure and facilities have been taken during the past three months.The doctors and paramedics put forth various demands before the minister who assured them to address all their genuine demands on priority. He said Government was aware about the problems of this hilly and difficult region and every effort will be made to address their problems.Meanwhile, locals at Kargil presented a memorandum of demands to the Minister for early and favorable consideration. The demands which have been projected include expeditious compilation of 200-bedded hospital, installation of MRI machine and alternate CT Scan in the new Hospital, filling up of all vacant posts of doctors and paramedics, adequate supply of medicines, shuffling of administrative staff in district hospital Kargil and improvement of sanitation and public convenience facilities.

Ch. Lal Singh en-route also interacted with the delegations of people at Drass and listened to their grievances. They projected demands pertaining to the shortage of Doctors and paramedics at Sub District Hospital, Drass and equipping the hospital with latest technology so that people of the area get better health service at their door step.Choudhary Lal Singh gave a patient hearing to the demands of the people and assured to redress the same on priority.Those who accompanied the Minister included, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Hassan Khan, Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma, Director Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Baldev Sharma, CMO Kargil, Dr Shabir Hussain and other officers.
