Muzaffar Beigh reviews power scenario in Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency

Stressing the need for strengthening the Power sector and effective electricity supply in Baramulla during the days of Ramadhan, Member Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, chaired a high-level meeting of officers here today. A detailed discussion was held over the power scenario and the issues relating to the upgradation of electricity infrastructure and improved power supply in the three districts, viz., Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora.Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary affairs and Relief and Rehabilitation, Basharat Bukhari, Minister for Youth Service and Sports and Information Technology, Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for RDD and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan , MLAs of the constituencies of district Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora were present  in the meeting.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of Deendhayal Upadayaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGVY) in these districts. The scheme aims at strengthening rural electrification, strengthening of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders and augmentation of sub-transmission and distribution system.On this occasion, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh took stock of the situation of the electricity and power sector in north Kashmir. He also took detailed account of the problems and issues related to the power sector.

Imran Raza Ansari and Syed Basharat Bukhari highlighted the need for upgradation of electric workshops and receiving stations to improve the overall power scenario in these districts. They called for repairing the damaged wires and poles on priority.Meanwhile the MLAs also highlighted their demands and demanded immediate steps to improve the power infrastructure in these hilly districts. They sought special attention of the Government and earmarking adequate funds to improve the power scenario.Deputy Commissioners of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora besides officers of PDD department were also present on in the meeting.
